It looks like a forest fire but these are pictures of POLLEN during our Wed. morning hike in the Prescott Nat'l Forest. As we got closer I realized it was NOT smoke or dust, but amazing clouds of pollen coming off the trees carried by the breeze. The pollen was all over this particular area and these are the best pics.
Sniffle... sneeze......achoo! .... claritin alert!

That is pretty amazing! It DOES look like smoke!
Wow! Later in the Spring, the pines do something similiar, but not quite like that! Great shots!
Fascinating! Oh my, that is really something. I have never seen anything like it before.
WOW! I recall visiting my grandmother in SC as a kid and all the surfaces would get yellow with pollen.....now in Texas it just the micro pollen that makes me sniffle, sneeze & snortle! Thanks for sharing & glad I found your blog!
Cheers!

Thank you all! Must have been there at the "right place right time" as I have never witnessed anything like that before. The aftermath is a green film which I have to wash off window screens and lawn furniture :)
Oh gosh. Too, too much.

I had no idea pollen could rise like smoke. It makes my nose itch just looking at those photos! In our area, we get a yellow coating from the fir trees.
