We were on a nature hike with our grandsons over the weekend at Granite Mountain when we came upon this strange sight. Look closely at the top left - the pod was writhing with worm-like insects, which I have found out from fellow bloggers are "tent caterpillars" Needless to say this was a very cool catch for the boys! A fun day :) |

Yeuch! we have them too. (tent caterpillars, not grandsons!)
Thank you very much for the "cotton candy" I.D. It sorta reminded me of a scary movie scene :)
Oh my! Tent caterpillars ... not a fan. Those are some good looking grandsons! Sounds like you had a wonderful adventure.
Thanks Julie, we had a great day:)
Thanks for warning me..I almost took a bite!
Lol... I like the comment "tent caterpillars, not grandsons!" Pretty cool; that was my trivia for the day. Very nice pics from the mini hike :) We had a very nice time and wish we were still there. Good food & good company.
