Gambols Quail - Prescott, Az.
It was fun observing Mr. Dad giving 'flying lessons' to his brood. He would gather them on one boulder, fly off to the next boulder and wait for each one to fly over to him. Mom was a few feet behind with the rest of brood. Wish I had more images to share but I didn't want to scare them off :)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..the young uns look so sweet.
I've never read about it, but my wife and I are certain that the Gambel's Quail in our old Mesa, AZ backyard were giving their chicks flying lessons from the top of our block fence wall. Glad to get some anecdotal confirmation from you.
How sweet!!!
Oh I would love to see such a thing. So very cute!
Way cool!!! I can almost picture the dad saying, "...and most importantly, remember to make flying look as difficult and undesirable as possible. That's the way of the Quail."
I've never seen this before. Great stuff! Thanks for posting.
Always appreciate your nice comments! It was fun viewing this family of Quail during training:)
